The stand is on a small table-top mesa to the west of the Butte College campus near its western boundary. Stand is at the SW end of the mesa in a grassland complex. The stand is mostly dominated by native forbs and Aira and Briza minor grasses with shorter and sparser non-native annual grasses than the surrounding hummocks. The stand is on one of the many rockier depressions on the plateau. This small stand is adjacent to a wetter depression (vernal pool) that still has water in it and supports Callitriche sp.; The site is grazed yearly by cattle.
